Saturday in Causeway Bay

HWC201201283-2 Causeway Bay, equivalent to Shibuya in Tokyo, is one of the most busiest commercial districts in Hong Kong.  It’s a melting port with all kind of activities (shopping, eating, protesting … you name it) happening at the same time.   Today, I was on my way to pick up runner’s pack for next week’s marathon run (10K for me only) and captured these images. After a week of cloudiness and drizzling rain, sun finally showed up today.  A lot of… read more →

Beautiful Smile

HWC201201253 I haven’t seen my cousin for at least two years after she went abroad for studies.  We gathered at her home today.  As pretty as usual, she has matured with a charming personality.  Her beautiful smile will bright up anyone’s day. I wasn’t prepared to do any serious shooting and just wanted to take a few casual shoots.  It was raining and cloudy late afternoon.  Light condition in the room was quite poor.   There wasn’t much natural light I… read more →

Film

HWC201107241-2 I have several film cameras.  The first one is Nikon FG which my father gave me.  It’s a precious item since it developed my early experience in photography.  Leica M3 was the latest one that I got from eBay.  Many people are passionate about film photography.  They shoot nothing but film.  I always find film cameras fascinating but I am a little impatient about the developing process.  The following images came out from a roll of film which took me… read more →

恭賀新禧 Happy Chinese New Year!

HWC201201231 Today is the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.  In Southern China, you can see Narcissus (水仙花) everywhere at people’s home, shops, and restaurants.  It indicates revival of natural lives and the coming of spring.   My parents always put a small tub of narcissus at home during the New Year festival.  The creamy and painting like effect can only be delivered by the fastest lens available on earth – Leica Noctilux.  (1/250 sec, f1.2, ISO160) The Year… read more →

US Trip Jan 2012

HWC201201181 I spent last week in Baltimore for meetings.  It was a busy 4 days and I only stepped out of the hotel once. Morning view from my hotel window. Empty chairs at Dulles Airport. Clinton published a new book. Boarding time …  … read more →

2011 Portrait Sampling

HWC201110201-2 I love shooting portraits.  The most fun part is engaging with the model and capturing their demeanor at their most comfortable moment.  Early rangefinder photographers called this “decisive moment”.  I am always busy and never have the luxury to do any pre-shooting planning.  Most of my photographs were taken spontaneouly and often I only have time in the evening during/after dinner, on the walk back to the hotel, or while I am transiting through airports.  So far it’s much easy for… read more →
