Maui – Church & the Pacific Ocean

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Not many photos today …  here are shots of a small community church as I drove with my colleague Michael and his wife Cecilia to the hillside near Kahului, Northwest of Maui.  We discovered a scenic point with breath taking view of the Pacific Ocean.… read more →

Maui – The Beach

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA People come to Maui for a reason.  I went to the beach right before sunset this afternoon.  These shots explain why Maui is one of the most popular get-a-away place in the world.   More to come …  … read more →

Maui – Handweaving Artist

L1005645 Meet Cathy Detrick … a hand woven artist lives in Maui.  As I walked towards the hotel lobby this morning, I saw her handcraft stand.  We chatted about her work.  It’s amazing to find out that she travels extensively in Asia and has profound understanding and passion in ancient fiber art.  You can see samples of her handcrafts from her website www.catherinedetrick.com.  One of them incorporated a silk dragon fabric from the Qing dynasty with her hand woven cloth into a kimono style robe.  She obtained silk fabric from an… read more →

Cijin Beach, Kaohsiung 高雄旗津

Rusting Chair

L1005105 This chair is patiently holding a parking space for its owner under the dimmed street light.  From its condition, you can tell it’s been doing this simple duty for years.   I sometimes complains about the high level of stress comes with my job.  My wife always comforted me by saying that “at least you enjoy what you’re doing.  Stress comes with every job whether you are a CEO or a janitor”  How many people in the world are doing a boring job every day?  We… read more →

Be Naive

L1004998 I am in Taiwan with my family on a short break.  However, I was swamped with work since I got here and didn’t spend much time with them.  I felt really guilty about it.  This morning I finally had a bit of breathing room and went to play with my daughter and her cousins in the back side of the house.  They were playing on my brother-in-law’s car.  I had many really good shots.  But this is what I can show you today … since I believe… read more →
