Concert Backstage 音樂會後台
Last night, I attended a fund raising concert for Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association at the City Hall Theatre. Since my father organized the concert, I had the opportunity to be on the backstage. It’s a dream opportunity for a photographer. There many professional and amateur singers performed at the concert. These photos will show you what’s happening on the backstage.

These two photos (above) were my favorites among all this evening.

Nakatsu Fumitake is giving his students a stendent last minute rehearsal.

Meet Chen Liping, a professional singer and teacher. She is giving her student performers last minutes rehearsal in the make-up room.

This is Barbara Fei (費明儀) a famous singer in Hong Kong, the mainland China, and Taiwan. She is in her 80s but still possesses the demeanor of a master singer.

Tse Chilin is a famous tenor in Hong Kong since 1950s. His daughter is 謝寧 who won Miss Hong Kong Pageant in 1985 and became a famous actor and celebrity ever since. Mr. Tse is preparing his performance.

Liu Shih Kun 劉詩昆 became a well-known international piano master well before Lang Lang and Li Yundi. His performance was the highlight of the evening. This shoot was taken on the backstage from an angle that audience won’t be able to see.

Meet Samantha Sun 孫穎, pianist and pipaist.

Tenor, Yu Zhangping 余章平, is waiting his turn on the backstage. The light was pretty dim but my Noctilux took care of it.

Members of the choir are ready to get on the stage. My mother is among them. She is smiling at me.

Ms Barbara Fei conducted the last performance by the choir.

This is my father, watching the show on the backstage and making sure everything is running as planned. He is the organizer of the event. My parents both love singing at very young age. Since their retirement, they setup a non-profit music association to pursue their dreams. Their goal is to put together a charity concert every year. It’s very time consuming. But I can tell they are enjoying it.

Hope you like what you saw today. Have a great week ahead!
