WestLicht will hold an antique camera auction on May 25th. http://www.westlicht-auction.com/
I was invited to their pre-auction presentation last weekend. In the past few years, there has been a strong demand of Leica cameras from Chinese buyers. That’s why WestLicht demonstrated most valuable items in this year’s auction in Hong Kong including a gold plated Leica III produced in 1931. The estimated value is between 250 – 300K Euro. Within 2 KM of where I live, there is an old village established back in the 17th century. Squatters built a variety of material are mashed along the hill side. It’s not a delightful scene in a modern city like Hong Kong. I seldom pay any attention to it until recently I saw a video about it. http://vimeo.com/50422493. On January 2nd, I visited Pokfulam city. It was a memorable experience.

Tin Hau, the goddess of the sea, are respected by people in Southern China for hundreds of years. In accent time, Sailors and fishermen would pray for safe returns before they started their journeys. There are many Tin Hau Temples in Hong Kong. This particular one is located in Causeway Bay. It was built by Tai family in the 18th Century. The temple is very well maintained after these many years. Joss sticks and candles burning at the temple…
I found this set of photos taken last January in Aberdeen (pronounced as “Heung Kong Tsai” in Cantonese). It means Hong Kong minor. Many believed that Aberdeen was the name of Hong Kong originally came from. Aberdeen has been a fishing village since the Ming Dynasty. When foreigners landed near the village in the 19th century, they mistook the name of the village “Heung Kong Tsai” for the whole island. It was too late when people realized the mistake,…
I went for a photo walk by myself in North Point this afternoon before picking up my daughter from kindergarden. North Point is located on the east side of Hong Kong island. It’s an old and highly populated area. You can see all sorts of people just by walking along the street. I grew up in Hong Kong and used to live in the area 25 years ago. Queen’s road that runs through North Point hasn’t change much in these…
There are many narrow streets spread above Queen’s Road Central on Hong Kong island. Many of them were established over 100 years ago during the colonial era. The British has certainly left their foot prints here. Wellington St., Stanley St., Gage St., … this is an area of photographer’s heaven day or night. Here are some shoots I took during last Saturday afternoon. I hope you will like them. All images were captured by Voigtlander 17.5 mm f0.95 lens for M4/3 camera. I…
While my daughter was taking a nap at home this afternoon, I sneaked out for a quick photo walk in Central. I didn’t know there are so many graffitis in the back alleys. Some are really quite good.
I haven’t done much posting lately due to a major renovation of my site. Hope you like the new look!…
Last night, I attended a fund raising concert for Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association at the City Hall Theatre. Since my father organized the concert, I had the opportunity to be on the backstage. It’s a dream opportunity for a photographer. There many professional and amateur singers performed at the concert. These photos will show you what’s happening on the backstage.
These two photos (above) were my favorites among all this evening.

I went to Wanchai this afternoon with my best friend Jim since middle school. We are both crazy about photography. It’s the first time for me to see the famous Yellow House, Blue House, and Orange House in the Wanchai area (near Queen’s Road East). We first went through the Tai Yuen Street Open Market, then to the Blue House, and finally Pak Tai Temple. I was very happy with incant smoke photos towards the end.
The Tai Yeun Street…
