Stories Behind The Photos

We are all busy with our work and often forgot about those who have made a difference in our lives.  Photography allows us to remember each precious moment even when our memory start to fade.  The banner photos you have just seen were imprompt shoots taken in split seconds.  They were not planned and all happened spontaneouly.  The only secret is to carry a camera all the time to not miss any timeless moment.

Here are a few behind the scene stories …

Anny grew up in Beijing.  She majored in marine technology in university.  Her ability in working with people has eventually brought her into sales.  Today, she runs sales in China through a complex distribution network.  She is an aggressive sales leader always willing to take on new challenges and is one of the best in my management team.  In her spare time, Anny is a keen photographer.  She also has the natural talent to express herself in front of the camera.  This photo was taken in a cafe in Paris.  I asked her to show how she would ask for a PO from a customer without saying anything.  I like this photo as it captured another side of her.  After all, how can you say no to her bright charming eyes …

Dongsoon is a passionate salesman.  He was born with sales closing instinct.  We worked in unison on many big deals.  Despite being a Korean, Dongsoon speaks fluent Mandarin.  While most Korean are eager to study in Western countries, he went to China for his university education which is now proven to be the best decision.    Today, he is responsible business development in North Asia.  His language talent is found to be very useful.  This photo was taken in Macau while we walked back from dinner to the hotel.  I noticed nice street light in a small lane and asked Dongsoon to think about his quota while lightening up the cigarette.  Dongsoon exceeded his 2011 sales quota and earned his right to the president’s club.

Meet my cousin Sisi.  I first saw her when she was only 2 years old.  She was the cutest and most lovely little girl.  Today, she has become an attractive lady.  I often wonder if my daughter (2 years now) will become as pretty as Sisi when she grows up.  Click here to see how this photo was taken.

George is a smart, creative, and passionate entrepreneur who pioneered software protection industry in China in early 90′s.  Today he is the CEO of Semptian Technologies which provides hardware acceleration technologies for network traffic monitoring.  I have known George for over 15 years.  His management philosophy and ability to adapt to change have always inspired me.  George always has a optimistic way of looking at life and is able to give it a laugh even during difficult times.  I am fortunate to have him as my friend.  This photo was taken in a restaurant.  I asked him to sit in front of the window and think about his achievement in life.  I like this photo since it has well captured his personality and spirit.

Shawn possesses exceptional intellectual capacity.  He invented CD-rom locking technology in his twenties and then served as CTO and President for two internet security companies.  Shawn’s deep understanding and insight on information technology is second to none.  He is currently a partner at iNovia Capital, a Canadian based venture capital fund.  Shawn and I used to work together and later became good friends.  He is also an experienced pilot and passionate in flying.  It’s always fun to be around with Shawn.  This photo was taken during his recent to Hong Kong a few months ago.

Ajay is a smart software engineer born and raised in India.  His adventurous spirit brought him to Hong Kong about two years ago.  He picked up some Mandarin and Cantonese and also made many local friends.  Ajay likes to travel and always backpack himself into unknown territories.  I took this photo while we were waiting for flight in Paris airport.  He was on the phone solving a customer’s technical problem.
